
Stephanie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has worked for the City of Moscow for 8+ years starting in a Secretary II position in March of 1999 and was promoted after four months to Administrative Secretary/Deputy City Clerk. In 2003, she was appointed as City Clerk. Stephanie has a very diverse work background which includes working for the Political Science Department at the University of Washington. She is excited about continuing her education; enhancing her involvement; sharing her experience; and working with clerks from her Region and around the world as part of IIMC.
Monica Martinez Simmons, MMC
Monica Martinez
Simmons is in her 30th year of public service with the City of
Henderson. A proud native of Henderson, Nevada, Monica has experienced
unprecedented growth in her community throughout her tenure. Monica
served 20 years in the City Attorney’s Office and was
appointed City Clerk in 1998 by the Mayor and City Council. As City
Clerk, Monica is responsible for the administration of the City’s
voter/election services, facilitation of the local legislative process,
U.S. Passport Services Program, Public Records and Archive Program, and Lobby
Information Services. Recently the City Clerk’s Office partnered with
Clark County to provide marriage licensing services at City Hall.
Monica has established partnerships with the University of Nevada/Reno to implement the first accredited Municipal and County Clerks’ Institute of Nevada. She was appointed to the Nevada State Help America Vote Act Committee (HAVA), and has been recognized nationally for Henderson's Local Youth Vote program through the National Election Center. Monica remains committed to strengthening community relations through ongoing outreach programs and community partnerships, including the implementation of the first Vote Centers in Nevada and coordination of research and publication efforts for Henderson’s An American Journey, a pictorial and administrative history.
